A delayed update on a couple of hot pieces of CA legislation:
1) AB 2062 didnt make it out of the Senate Appropriations Committee. If passed, this bill would have required a license if you transfered more than 50 rds of ammunition a month. Also, it would have required a permit to purchase ammunition and all purchases would have been registered. Thankfully this is dead for the year.
2) AB 2235 also failed to make it out of the Senate Appropriations Committee. This bill would have required that the Attorney General monitor the state of “smart guns” and force the technologies to be required as they became available — whatever that meant. Thankfully this is also now dead for the year.
P.S., Before you all get happy — realize BOTH these bills passed out of the state assembly. Praise the wisdom of the bicameral system and realize how closely both these were to becoming law…
