Ammunition Restriction Bill Moves Forward in California — Act Now!! (AB962)
From an NRA-ILA alert:
“On June 3, the Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962 by a 42-31 vote. AB962 now heads to the Senate where it has been assigned to the Senate Public Safety Committee……Sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB962 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require purchasers submit to fingerprinting, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited. ”
For all you dumb-asses that thought “microstamping won’t pass because its impossible to do” and are now thinking “ammunition restrictions won’t pass because its impossible to enforce”… WAKE UP! This bill would effictively treat ammunition like prescription drugs — you would need a license to sell ammunition, it would be against the law to give your ammunition to another person and while you wouldn’t need a prescription to buy ammunition, you would be fingerprinted everytime you do buy ammunition.
It currently sits with the CA Senate Public Safety Committee… Please contact them, voice your concern that it will seriously curtail legal activities while doing nothing to prevent crime…. Can you imagine a handgun 1 where the instructor needs to fingerprint every student and record every sale of every bullet? That seems a stupid reason to add an extra hour to class time. Of course assuming that the instructor can get a license to sell ammunition.
