Coup in Niger!
According to Reuters, the Niger President has been captured and “they were suspending the constitution and dissolving all political institutions.”

There is a governmental mandated recall on the GSG-5 with the simulated supressors
Apparently (per GunTrustLawyer), “ATF has now determined that this is regulated by the NFA and must be replaced.” Pretty odd ending for a gun that had to cease production anyway….
Update - I found the following info that helps explain the recall from m4carbine.net:
“As you are aware, the GCA, 18 USC $ 921 (a) (24), defines ‘firearm silencer’ as follows:
“….any device for silencing, muffling or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including any combination of parts, designed or redesigned, and intended for use in assembling or fabricating a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, and any part intended only for use in such assembly or fabrication.”
General characteristics of known firearm silencers include:
1 Ported inner tube (bleed holes)
2 Expansion chambers
3 Baffles or washers which create seperate expansion chambers
4 sound dampening material such as foam, steel wool and other materials
5 End Caps
6 Encapsulators
The previously submitted GSG-5SD barrel shroud incorporates a large expansion chamber and integral end caps and, therefore, was classified as a firearm silencer.”
Rod Tuason, a Palo Alto cop, decided to post on facebook “threatening to kill anyone he found openly carrying a handgun, even if that person was carrying it legally.” (Story at CNET)
2 quicky updates….
1 – I have upgraded the site to the latest version of wordpress
2 – I am toying with putting ads on the site to support the blogging efforts. Ads will go to recoup direct hosting costs. Revenue, if any, beyond covering direct costs will be dispersed to the people that post on the site — they are the ones that make the site worth going to. As part of this process, I updated the “about” page to clearly reflect that our site is about education and humor and we do not promote violence… This has always been true, but, I don’t think explicitly put forth.
Thanks to TheFirearmBlog for this story.
Since it seems like a few people have been looking at the PM9, this story would be of interest.
Short summary: during range visit, a PM9 “blew up” in the shooter’s hands while using factory ammo… Notice the failed extractor and side panel.
As you read the rest of the story it turns out the shooter may have been using reloads, the seemingly main cause for all the Glock KaBOOMS! that have led to Glocks being called grenades.
To be honest though, it looks like the damage is a little different.
Here is a photo of an exploded glock-nade:
This explodes near where the round is chambered due to an unsupported casing. This problem seemed to be most reported with the .40’s.
So the PM9 looks to be a different mechanism to me. Probably too much energy in the recoil that made the slide come back with excessive force — yay for double charged reloads :-p. Kahr was apparently excellent with the service.
“…and if it weren’t for the Blackberry my pappy that I always kept in my breast pocket, that bullet would have killed me!”
Thanks to TheFirearmBlog for the link to this story… basically some dumb ass managed to get his clothing caught up in his .32 pistol and discharged it through his coat and at his girlfriend.
When the round struck his GF, the Blackberry stopped the bullet with only minor bruising as a result. I wish they mentioned which firearm the gentleman had…
I found this video over at WDTN.
Somebody found that if you take the airport scanner image and do some photoshop trickery, it looks pretty compelling as a nude photo…
Remember, this isnt porn…. This is just what the airport people see every time you consent to go in their penis sizing machine…
May they be cursed with 1,000’s of these:
They delete the images after they are looked at, right? Not that a cell phone camera wouldnt do the same thing…
